I am the 2016 Utah Teacher of the Year.
I graduated from BYU with a degree in Mathematics Education. I began my teaching career in Idaho Falls, Idaho. After six years, I moved to Houston, Texas. While in Texas, I earned my masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in mathematics. I taught there for eight years before moving back to Utah. It is my seventh year at American Fork High School this fall. I am working on a second masters degree in Educational Leadership.
I love to travel. It is such fun to see the world, learn about other cultures, and to see such amazing architecture, ruins, and natural beauty. (The pictures on this site are from my travels.) I love to read, learn, make cards, scrapbook, sew, etc. I love mathematics because it is the language of the world in which we live. It is beautifully intricate and simple all at the same time. I love to teach. I enjoy teenagers and their enthusiasm for life.
